  1. 1. Wells of Experience : A pastoral land-use history of Omaheke, Namibia

    Author : Karl-Johan Lindholm; Paul J. J. Sinclair; Thomas Elmqvist; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Archaeology; Namibia; Kalahari; Omaheke; archaeology; wells; land-use history; pastoralism; Arkeologi;

    Abstract : The conventional view on the Kalahari in southern Africa expresses that the area is unsuitable for livestock herding. For this reason, it is argued that livestock herders avoided the Kalahari in the past and were only able to establish themselves in the later half of the twentieth century, when deep-reaching boreholes were introduced in the area. 2. 2. Image Analysis and Deep Learning for Applications in Microscopy

    Author : Omer Ishaq; Carolina Wählby; Bernd Rieger; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Machine learning; Deep learning; Image analysis; Quantitative microscopy; Bioimaging; Computerized Image Processing; Datoriserad bildbehandling;

    Abstract : Quantitative microscopy deals with the extraction of quantitative measurements from samples observed under a microscope. Recent developments in microscopy systems, sample preparation and handling techniques have enabled high throughput biological experiments resulting in large amounts of image data, at biological scales ranging from subcellular structures such as fluorescently tagged nucleic acid sequences to whole organisms such as zebrafish embryos. 3. 3. Well Testing, Methods and Applicability

    Author : Jan-Erik Rosberg; Teknisk geologi; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; slug tests; well completion; re-injection; Well testing; pumping tests; injection tests; well development; pneumatic initiation; hydro-jetting; coiled tubing; tunnel lining; deep wells;

    Abstract : Well testing is widely used today in water wells, oil and gas wells, for geothermal applications, within civil engineering projects, thermal storage and CO2 storage. The overall testing goal is to verify the productivity from a well and/or for characterization of hydraulic and thermal properties, as well as the spatial limitations of an aquifer. READ MORE

  4. 4. Elements of AlGaN-Based Light Emitters

    Author : Martin Stattin; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []

    Abstract : The III-nitrides have enabled a range of optoelectronic devices and associated applications of great industrial and societal importance. However, the full potential of the III-nitrides remains to be explored. READ MORE

  5. 5. Clinical probability assessment and biochemical markers in the diagnosis of deep vein thrombosis

    Author : Johan Elf; Malmö Klinisk koagulationsmedicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Venous thrombosis; APC-PCI complex.; D-Dimer; Clinical probability; Diagnosis;

    Abstract : The combination of pre-test clinical probability assessment and D-dimer test is now widely applied in the diagnostic process of DVT. The general objective of the present investigation was to validate these results in a Swedish routine emergency setting were the prevalence of the disease is high and were the clinical probability assessment was handled by many junior physicians.
