1. Undrained shear strength in clay slopes - Influence of stress conditions. A model and field test study
Abstract : To counteract natural hazards such as landslides, current methods for evaluation of soil properties as a mean for determining the safety level of natural slopes need to be refined. The empirical relationships used for estimation of the undrained shear strength from piezocone and field vane test are based on the stress conditions valid for horizontal ground and normally consolidated or slightly overconsolidated soil. 2. Effects of deep excavations in soft clay on the immediate sourroundings-Analysis of the possibility to predict deformations and reactions against the retaining system
Abstract : When excavating in an urban environment, the evaluation of the magnitude and distribution of ground movements is an important part of the design process, since excessive movements can damage adjacent buildings and utilities. In order to minimize movement of the surrounding soil, a retaining wall support system is used for deep excavations to provide lateral support. READ MORE

3. Compaction- and strength properties of stabilised and unstabilised fine-grained tills
Abstract : Fine-grained soils are often regarded as problematic soils in earthworks because of their water- and frost sensitivity. Only limited amounts of fine-grained tills are used as earthwork material today. READ MORE

4. Strength variability in lime-cement columns and its effect on the reliability of embankments
Abstract : Ground improvement by deep mixing (DM) is a generic term used for a number of methods in which a binding agent, often lime and/or cement, is mechanically mixed with the soil to increase its engineering properties. The inherent variability with respect to the engineering properties of the improved soil is high due to the variations in geology and the complex mixing process. READ MORE

5. Mechanical properties of inorganic silt
Abstract : The need for increased knowledge of the properties and behaviour of silty soils has been urgent for many years. This report is an attempt to fulfil this need to same degree. The properties of inorganic silt have been investigated by means of laboratory tests, field tests and load tests. READ MORE
