  1. 26. Core Level Spectroscopy of Water and Ice

    Author : Dennis Nordlund; Anders Nilsson; Martin Wolf; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; x-ray adsorption spectroscopy; photoemission spectroscopy; x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy; platinum; x-ray emission spectroscopy; density functional theory; hydrogen-bonded; H-bond; water; ice; electronic structure; excited state dynamics; proton dynamics; water adsorption; liquid water; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : A core level spectroscopy study of ice and water is presented in this thesis. Combining a number of experiments and spectrum calculations based on density functional theory, changes in the local valence electronic structure are shown to be sensitive to the local H-bonding configurations. Abstract : Core- and Valence Photoelectron Spectroscopy (PES), X-ray- and Ultraviolet-Visible Absorption Spectroscopy (XAS and UV-Vis), Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM) and Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations are used to study the electronic and geometrical structure of a class of macro-cyclic molecules, Phthalocyanines (Pc), on surfaces. These molecules are widely studied due to their application in many different fields. READ MORE

  3. 28. Transmission Electron Microscopy of 2D Materials : Structure and Surface Properties

    Author : Linda Karlsson; Per Persson; Javier Bareno; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Transmission Electron Microscopy; Two-dimensional materials; Graphene; MXene; Ti3C2Tx; Low-voltage TEM; Aberration-corrected TEM; monchromated TEM; Scanning transmission electron microscopy; Electron energy loss spectroscopy;

    Abstract : During recent years, new types of materials have been discovered with unique properties. One family of such materials are two-dimensional materials, which include graphene and MXene. These materials are stronger, more flexible, and have higher conductivity than other materials. As such they are highly interesting for new applications, e. READ MORE

  4. 29. Electron Wave Packet Dynamics on the Attosecond Time Scale

    Author : Kathrin Klünder; Atomfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Photoionization; Single attosecond pulses; Attosecond pulse trains; Electron wave packet; Electron dynamics; Interferometry; Photoemission time delay; Fysicumarkivet A:2012:Klünder; Stark spectroscopy;

    Abstract : One objective of attosecond science is to study electron dynamics in atoms and molecular systems on their natural time scale. This can be done using attosecond light pulses. READ MORE

    Abstract : An efficient transfer of energy in molecular systems has proven to be of fundamental importance both in nature and industrial applications. The ability of molecules to work together forming collective excitations, so-called excitons, plays a key role in for example the extraordinary fast energy transfer involved in the first steps of photosynthesis.
