    Author : Inka L. M. Locht; Igor Di Marco; Silke Biermann; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; dynamical mean field theory DMFT ; Hubbard I approximation; strongly correlated systems; rare earths; lanthanides; photoemission spectra; ultrafast magnetization dynamics; analytic continuation; Padé approximant method; two-particle Green s functions; linear muffin tin orbitals LMTO ; density functional theory DFT ; cerium; stacking fault energy.; Physics with spec. in Atomic; Molecular and Condensed Matter Physics; Fysik med inriktning mot atom- molekyl- och kondenserande materiens fysik;

    Abstract : In this work we study the interesting physics of the rare earths, and the microscopic state after ultrafast magnetization dynamics in iron. Moreover, this work covers the development, examination and application of several methods used in solid state physics. The first and the last part are related to strongly correlated electrons. 3. 3. Evaluation of thermal comfort of head gear : a method to measure heat transfer characteristics

    Author : Xiaoxiong Liu; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Industrial Work Environment; Industriell produktionsmiljö;

    Abstract : This study was carried out within the research project "Thermal properties of protective helmets - improvement, validation and standardization of a measurement method" which was a continuation of a research project being carried out since 1992 at the Division of Industrial Ergonomics, Department of Human Work Sciences, Luleå University of Technology, Sweden, with co-operation of the Department of Ergonomics, National Institute for Working, Life (NIWL), Solna, Sweden. A method was developed for measuring the evaporative heat transfer properties of helmets, based on the results of a thorough literature survey. READ MORE

  4. 4. Electronic structure studies and method development for complex materials

    Author : Andreas Östlin; Levente Vitos; László Udvardi; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; electronic structure theory; density functional theory; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materials Science and Engineering;

    Abstract : Over the years electronic structure theory has proven to be a powerful method with which one can probe the behaviour of materials, making it possible to describe and predict material properties. The numerical tools needed for these methods are always in need of development, since the desire to calculate more complex materials pushes this field forward. READ MORE

  5. 5. Regional Geoid Determination Methods for the Era of Satellite Gravimetry : Numerical Investigations Using Synthetic Earth Gravity Models

    Author : Jonas Ågren; Lars E. Sjöberg; Zdenek Martince; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Earth sciences; geoid determination; GOCE; synthetic earth gravity models; kernel modification; downward continuation; Geovetenskap; Earth sciences; Geovetenskap;

    Abstract : It is the purpose of this thesis to investigate different regional geoid determination methods with respect to their feasibility for use with a future GOCE satellite-only Earth Gravity Model (EGM). This includes investigations of various techniques, which involve different approximations, as well as the expected accuracy. READ MORE
