  1. 1. Moisture permeability of mature concrete, cement mortar and cement paste

    University dissertation from Division of Building Materials, LTH, Lund University

    Author : Göran Hedenblad; [1993]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; moisture transport; cement paste; moisture permeability; concrete; moisture flow; cement mortar;

    Abstract : Moisture permeability tests were performed on specimens of concrete, cement mortar and cement paste with the bottom side in water or in moist air and the upper side in a relative humidity of 33 %. The distribution of the relative humidity within the specimen was measured, at stationary conditions, as well as the amount of water which pass through the specimen. READ MORE

  2. 2. A model for heat and mass transfer in timber structures during fire: a theoretical, numerical and experimental study

    University dissertation from Lund University, Department of Fire Safety Engineering

    Author : Bertil Fredlund; [1988]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; wood; pyrolysis; temperature; pressure; moisture content; finite element method; mass flow; permeability; gamma-ray technique; specific heat; charring; rate of heat release; heat production;

    Abstract : A model has been formulated for the pyrolysis of wood. This model includes heat and mass transfer. Heat transfer in the material is assumed to take place by thermal conduction and convection. Mass transfer of volatile pyrolysis products and water vapour occurs under the influlence of gradients in to tal pressure. READ MORE

  3. 3. Some Studies of the Transport Coefficients of Pulp and Paper

    University dissertation from Lill Dahlström, Department of Chemical Engineering I, Lund University, Lund, Sweden

    Author : Lars Nilsson; [1996]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Pore nonuniformities; Permeability; Moisture gradients; Magnetic resonance imaging; Effective diffusivity; Drying; Cellulose fibres; Computational fluid dynamics; Wood; pulp and paper technology; Pappers- och massateknik;

    Abstract : The drying of a porous material occurs in two different periods: the constant rate period and the falling rate period. During the constant rate period, the drying rate is determined by the external conditions regarding heat and mass transfer, and the drying rate is not influenced by the properties of the drying material. 4. 4. Edible and Biodegradable Whey Protein Films as Barriers in Foods and Food Packaging

    University dissertation from Lill Dahlström, Department of Chemical Engineering I, Lund University, Lund, Sweden

    Author : Martin Anker; [2000]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; water vapor permeability; critical gel concentration; BETA-lactoglobulin; whey protein; mechanical properties; moisture content; microstructure; glass transition temperature; oxygen permeability;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses on the characterization of whey protein films. The films were cast from heated aqueous solutions and dried in a climate room at 23 °C and 50% relative humidity for 16 h. The microstructure of the films was found to be dependent on the protein concentration, the plasticizers, and the pH. READ MORE
