  1. 21. Adsorption of polyhydroxyl based surfactants

    Author : Maria Matsson; Per Claesson; Robert Meszaros; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physical chemistry; surface chemistry; adsorption; surfactant; nonionic; alkyl glucoside APG ; ellipsometry; kinetics; alkyl amine oxide DDAO ; alkyl ammonium bromide DTAB ; solid liquid interface; synergism; coadsorption.;

    Abstract : Adsorption on solid surfaces from solution is a fundamental property of a surfactant. It might even be the most important aspect of surfactant behavior, since it influences many applications, such as cleaning, detergency, dispersion, separation, flotation, and lubrication. READ MORE

  2. 22. Phase Equilibria and Structures of Oppositely Charged Polymers and Surfactants in Water

    Author : Anna Svensson; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; self diffusion; PFG NMR; hexagonal; cubic Pm3n; liquid crystals; SAXS; polymer; counterion; complex; polyelectrolyte; surfactant; Monte Carlo simulations; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : A new approach to the study of aqueous mixtures of oppositely charged polymers and surfactants has been introduced. Pure polyion-surfactant ion complex salts have been synthesized and used as the point of departure. The elimination of the simple ions reduces the number of components in the mixtures, thus greatly simplifying the system. READ MORE

  3. 23. Complexation between hydrophobically modified polymers and amylose. Gelation and competition by surfactants

    Author : Monica Egermayer; Kemiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; rheology; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi; inclusion complex; amylose; surfactant; ethyl hydroxyethyl cellulose; hydrophobically modified polymer; hydroxyethyl cellulose;

    Abstract : Aqueous mixtures of hydrophobically modified polymers (HMP) with amylose have been investigated by rheology and 1H NMR. Amylose can cross-link HMP chains by forming single-helical inclusion complexes with the hydrophobic side chains of the HMP, leading to thermoreversible, elastic, and thixotropic gels at ambient temperatures. 4. 24. Interfacial behaviour of surfactants and enzymes: studies at model surfaces

    Author : Olaspers Jonny Eriksson; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Surface and boundary layery chemistry; gränsskikt; enzymatic degradation; cellulase; model film; cellulose; QCM; ellipsometry; surfactant; three-phase contact line; adsorption; wetting; Ytkemi;

    Abstract : This thesis presents results from experimental studies of the interfacial behaviour of surfactants and enzymes at model surfaces. The main technique used throughout the work was ellipsometry. READ MORE

  5. 25. Phase Phenomena in Polymer Networks : Empirical Studies on the Influence of Hydrophobicity, Charge Density and Crosslinks on Macroion-Induced Phase Transitions in Polyelectrolyte Gels

    Author : Martin Andersson; Per Hansson; Lennart Piculell; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Gel; microgel; microsphere; polystyrenesulfonate; polyacrylate; polyacrylicacid; DoTAB; DoTAC; CTAB; CTAC; network; polyelectrolyte; complex salt; self assembly; phase behaviour; hysteresis; thermodynamic; core-shell; lysozyme; cytochrome c; microscopy; micromanipulator; elastomer; elastic; protein; surfactant; phase behaviour; sorting; PHARMACY; FARMACI; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : The thesis concerns polyelectrolyte gels in contact with oppositely charged proteins and surfactant micelles, and includes of four papers (I-IV). In paper I confocal Raman spectroscopy was introduced as a method to trace micelles and investigate the structure of gel-surfactant complexes, in phase separated gel spheres. READ MORE
