1. The Character of the Particle Emissions from Possible Future Marine Fuels in SOx ECAs
Abstract : Particles in the ambient air come from both natural and anthropogenic sources. One anthropogenic source is combustion of fossil fuels. The awareness of these particles impact on human health and climate has increased the interest for the particle emissions from e.g. READ MORE

2. Power Extraction in Military Aircraft
Abstract : Military aircraft require more and more power. Pneumatic and hydraulic systems are being replaced by electrical equipment and new, power consuming equipmentis introduced in the aircraft. Increased power extraction brings new challenges for the aircraft jet engine, both in terms of operability and with regards to engine performance. READ MORE

3. Full Cycle Engine Simulations with Detailed Chemistry
Abstract : The modeling work developed in this thesis can be divided in two main areas of investigations: autoignition related to spark ignition engine and combustion and emissions formation in relation to diesel engines. A first version of a detailed kinetics engine simulation program, extended to handle full cycle calculations, was employed in order to demonstrate the strong effect that nitric oxide from the residual gas has on the autoignition onset. 4. Exergy Evaluation of Engine Operations : Combustion Process to Exhaust Flow
Abstract : Transitioning the transport sector to clean energy sources is crucial for mitigating greenhouse gas emissions and achieving carbon neutrality. A collaborative solution, combining both electric vehicles and combustion engines using renewable fuels, may prove more effective than competitive ones. READ MORE

5. In-Nozzle Flow, Spray and Combustion Investigations of Two-Stroke Marine Diesel Engine Fuel Injectors
Abstract : This thesis focuses on the experimental studies of the cavitating in-nozzle flow of large two-stroke marine Diesel engine fuel injector nozzles and how it affects the spray morphology and combustion behaviour. To further increase the efficiency of large two-stroke marine Diesel engines, a better understanding of the fuel spray atomization process is necessary. READ MORE
