  1. 1. The Tyrosine Kinase GTK : Signal Transduction and Biological Function

    Author : Cecilia Annerén; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cell biology; Protein tyrosine kinases; GTK; SHB; proliferation; survival; differentiation; β cells; pancreatectomy; cytokines; diabetes; PC12 cells; NGF; streptozotocin; focal adhesion kinase; RAP1; Cellbiologi; Cell biology; Cellbiologi; medicinsk cellbiologi; Medical Cell Biology;

    Abstract : Protein tyrosine kinases play an important role in the regulation of various cellular processes such asgrowth, differentiation and survival. GTK, a novel SRC-like cytoplasmic tyrosine kinase, was recently cloned from a mouse insulinoma cell line and the present work was conducted in order to find a biological function of GTK in insulin producing and neuronal cells. 2. 2. New Approaches for Chemical Analysis of Single Cells and Vesicles

    Author : Johan Dunevall; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Electrochemistry; Analytical chemistry; Chemistry; Exocytosis; Catecholamines;

    Abstract : Exocytosis is the major cell-to-cell communication process in the nervous system, involving the conversion of an electrical signal (e.g. action potential) to a chemical one. Signaling molecules like neurotransmitters, hormones and/or peptides are stored in vesicles inside the cell. READ MORE

  3. 3. Roles of the Shb and Cbl Proteins in Signal Transduction and Blood Vessel Formation

    Author : Lingge Lu; Michael Welsh; Lars Holgren; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cell biology; Shb; Cbl; FGF-2; NGF; PDGF; VEGF; VEGFR-2; differentiation; blood vessel formation; PC12 cells; endothelial cells; embryoid bodies; Rap1; CrkII; Cellbiologi; Cell biology; Cellbiologi; medicinsk cellbiologi; Medical Cell Biology;

    Abstract : Formation of blood vessels occurs through two processes: vasculogenesis and angiogenesis, which are regulated by various growth factors such as vascular endothelial growth factor, fibroblast growth factor and platelet-derived growth factor. The present study was carried out in order to investigate the roles of the Shb and Cbl proteins in growth factor-mediated signal transduction and blood vessel formation. READ MORE

  4. 4. Anaplastic Lymphoma Kinase mutations and downstream signalling

    Author : Christina Schönherr; Ruth H Palmer; Aristidis Moustakas; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Anaplastic Lymphoma Kinase; oncogene; RTK; neuroblastoma; crizotinib; NVP-TAE684; gain-of-function; MYCN; transcription factor; small GTPase; Rap1; C3G; PC12 cells; neurite outgrowth; molecular cell biology; molekylär cellbiologi;

    Abstract : The oncogene Anaplastic Lymphoma Kinase (ALK) is a Receptor Tyrosine Kinase (RTK) and was initially discovered as the fusion protein NPM (nucleophosmin)-ALK in a subset of Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphomas (ALCL). Since then more fusion proteins have been identified in a variety of cancers. READ MORE

  5. 5. Monitoring of Cellular Dynamics with Focus on Electrochemical Detection Techniques

    Author : Arto Heiskanen; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Microfluidic system; Microchip; PC12; Saccharomyces cerevisiae; Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy; Cell adhesion; Amperometry; Exocytosis; Redox environment; Cell-based assay;

    Abstract : This thesis presents work in two main areas of focus, the development of electroanalytical techniques to monitor the dynamics of cellular processes as well as design and fabrication of microelectrode chips for electrochemical detection as well as a prototype microfluidic system to be used for cell analysis and culturing. The electrochemically monitored cellular parameters were the cellular redox environment (CRE), cell adhesion and exocytosis. READ MORE
