  1. 1. Ammonium Feedback Control in Wastewater Treatment Plants

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Linda Åmand; Uppsala universitet.; Uppsala universitet.; [2014]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; aeration control; ammonium feedback control; biological nitrogen removal; full-scale experiments; gain scheduling control; PI control; process control; repetitive control; wastewater treatment; Elektroteknik med inriktning mot reglerteknik; Electrical Engineering with specialization in Automatic Control;

    Abstract : The aeration process is often the single largest consumer of electricity in a wastewater treatment plant. Aeration in biological reactors provides microorganisms with oxygen which is required to convert ammonium to nitrate. Ammonium is toxic for aqueous ecosystems and contributes to eutrophication. 2. 2. Tools for Autonomous Process Control

    University dissertation from Department of Automatic Control, Lund Institute of Technology (LTH)

    Author : Anders Wallén; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2000]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; sequential control; software architectures; fast set point response; spectral estimation; frequency domain identification; relay feedback; non-linear system identification; Autonomous Control; Process Control; Grafcet; Automation; robotics; control engineering; Automatiska system; robotteknik; reglerteknik;

    Abstract : There is an ongoing trend towards higher automation level in process control systems. The purpose of a plant is to manufacture some product at a high production rate with a consistent quality, while minimizing the use of resources in terms of energy consumption, raw material and labor. 3. 3. Modeling and Control of the Paper Machine Drying Section

    University dissertation from Department of Automatic Control, Lund Institute of Technology, Lund University

    Author : Ola Slätteke; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2006]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; reglerteknik; robotteknik; Automatiska system; Moisture control; Paper-making; Pressure control; Predictive Control; Mid-ranging Control; Wood; Drying Section Modeling; Automation; control engineering; robotics; pulp and paper technology; Pappers- och massateknik;

    Abstract : The topic of this thesis is modeling and control of the last part of the paper machine - the drying section. Paper is dried by letting it pass through a series of steam heated cylinders and the evaporation is thus powered by the latent heat of vaporization of the steam. READ MORE

  4. 4. Design of Robust PID Controllers with Constrained Control Signal Activity

    University dissertation from Department of Automatic Control, Lund Institute of Technology, Lund University

    Author : Olof Garpinger; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2009]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; measurement noise; constrained control signal activity; linear systems; disturbance rejection; PID control; process control; Youla parameterized controllers; algorithms and software;

    Abstract : This thesis presents a new method for design of PI and PID controllers with the level of control signal activity taken into consideration. The main reason why the D-part is often disabled in industrial control loops is because it leads to control signal sensitivity of measurement noise. READ MORE

  5. 5. PID Control, Design, Extension, Application

    University dissertation from Department of Automatic Control, Lund Institute of Technology (LTH)

    Author : Helene Panagopoulos; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2000]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; control engineering; PID control. Design. Optimization. Load disturbance rejection. Measurement noise filtering. Set point response. Robustness. Sensitivity. H-infinity control. Undamped process modes. Active control. Allpass and bandpass filter. Evaluation. Steam generator. Pulp and paper.; robotics; Automation; Automatiska system; robotteknik; reglerteknik;

    Abstract : This thesis considers the design of PID controllers, the extensions of these controllers to improve their performance, and the applications of these design methods to industrial processes. New tuning methods for PI and PID controllers have been presented. These methods uses a model of the process to be controlled, given as a transfer function. READ MORE
