1. Molecular basis for the anti-inflammatory properties of chlomethiazole
Abstract : Chlomethiazole (CMZ) exerts neuroprotective effects in animal models of stroke, and its clinical efficacy is currently evaluated in acute stroke patients. CMZ also protects the liver from alcohol- induced oxidative damage by inhibiting the cytochrome P450 2E1 (CYP2E1), as well as inflammation associated with alcohol liver disease (ALD) by inhibiting cytokine expression. 2. Bioactive nanocellulose materials for the treatment of chronic wounds
Abstract : Chronic wounds represent a burden for the healthcare system and significantly affect the quality of life of the patients. There is currently a lack of efficient treatments but new, improved therapeutic approaches are under development. READ MORE

3. Amphiphilic Peptide Interactions with Complex Biological Membranes : Effect of peptide properties on antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory effects
Abstract : With increasing problem of resistance development in bacteria against conventional antibiotics, as well as problems associated with diseases either triggered or enhanced by infection, there is an urgent need to identify new types of effective therapeutics for the treatment of infectious diseases and its consequences. Antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory peptides have attracted considerable interest as potential new antibiotics in this context. READ MORE

4. Exploring evolutionary and chemical space using chemoinformatic tools and traditional methods in pharmacognosy
Abstract : The number of new drugs coming to the market is declining while interest in lead discovery from natural resources is seeing a revival. Although methods for isolation and identification of natural products have advanced tremendously, methods for selection of potential leads have fallen behind. READ MORE

5. Fatty acid amide hydrolase - A target for anti-inflammatory therapies?
Abstract : Anti-inflammatory drugs are a widely used class of therapeutic agents, but the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID) is hampered by their gastrointestinal side-effects. Recent reports that cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitors may cause cardiovascular events underline the importance of identifying new therapeutic strategies for the treatment of inflammation. READ MORE
