  1. 1. Genetic variation and prostate cancer : population-based association studies in Sweden

    Author : Sara Lindström; Henrik Grönberg; Fredrik Wiklund; John Todd; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Prostate cancer; epidemiology; SRD5A2; ERG; progression; genetics; association studies; polymorphism; haplotype; CDH1; AR; CYP17; Oncology; Onkologi;

    Abstract : Prostate cancer constitutes the most common malignancy and the most common cause of cancer‐related death in Swedish men. A large body of evidence suggests that inherited genetic variants contribute to both development and progression of prostate cancer. READ MORE

  2. 2. Recurrent Aphthous Stomatitis - A study, with emphasis on host genetics, oral microbiota composition, and immunoregulatory networks

    Author : Maria Bankvall; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Aphthous stomatitis; Oral mucosa; Oral medicine; Genome-wide association study; Genetic linkage; Association; Genetic polymorphism; Microbiota; Restriction fragment length polymorphism; Antigen-presenting cell; T-lymphocyte; Lymph node; Flow cytometry;

    Abstract : Recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS) is one of the most common oral mucosal lesions. The aetiology is unknown and currently there is no consensus regarding suitable treatment regimens. READ MORE

  3. 3. Search for Type 2 Diabetes Susceptibility Genes Using Multiple Approaches

    Author : Cecilia Lindgren; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; single nucleotide polymorphism SNP ; transmission-disequilibrium test TDT ; genetic variation; single strand conformational polymorphism SSCP ; gene expression; insulin; glucose; genome-wide scan; linkage; genetic association; Type 2 diabetes; early onset diabetes EOD ; sekretion; diabetologi; Endokrinologi; diabetology; Endocrinology; secreting systems; signal-to-noise ratio SNR ;

    Abstract : Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a multifactorial disorder characterized by chronic hyperglycemia resulting from pancreatic dysfunction and insulin resistance. It is a common disorder with a complex pattern of inheritance, likely to reflect the influence of multiple genetic and environmental factors on the diabetes risk. READ MORE

  4. 4. Osteogenesis Imperfecta : Genetic and Therapeutic Studies

    Author : Katarina Lindahl; Östen Ljunggren; Andreas Kindmark; Carl-Johan Rubin; David Sillence; Uppsala universitet; []

    Abstract : Osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) is a heterogeneous disease of connective tissue, the cardinal symptom being fractures and severity ranging from mild to lethal. Dominant mutations in collagen I, encoded by COL1A1 and COL1A2, cause >90% of cases. READ MORE

  5. 5. Genetic polymorphism and regulation of cytochrome P450 2E1

    Author : Yin Hu; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Cytochrome P450 2E1 (CYP2E1) participates in the metabolism of several xenobiotics. A physiological role of CYP2E1 is its ability to convert acetone into gluconeogenetic precursors. Due to a pronounced oxidase activity CYP2E1 can generate substantial amount of oxygen free radicals and may contribute to oxidative stress. READ MORE
