  1. 1. Early structural and metamorphic evolution of the Scandinavian Caledonides: a study of the eclogite-bearing Seve Nappe Complex at the Arctic Circle, Sweden

    Author : Lena Gunlög Albrecht; Berggrundsgeologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; oblique compression.; C -type shear bands; anastomozing shear zones; tubular folds; lineation-parallel folds; northern Sweden; Grapesvare Nappe; Seve Nappe Complex; Finnmarkian; Eclogite; corona dolerite; Petrology; mineralogy; geochemistry; Petrologi; mineralogi; geokemi;

    Abstract : In the Seve Nappe Complex of the Swedish Caledonides, coronitic diabases pass into eclogites; sometimes the transition occurs within one and the same boudin. Calculated pressure-temperature conditions for the eclogite facies stage are 20-27 kbar and 650-750°. READ MORE

  2. 2. Sveconorwegian orogenesis in the southwestern Baltic Shield - Zircon geochronology and tectonothermal setting of orthogneisses in SW Sweden

    Author : Jenny Andersson; Berggrundsgeologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Petrology; Geologi; fysisk geografi; physical geography; Geology; structural markers; augen gneiss; orthogneiss; migmatite; ion microprobe; Pb-Pb evaporation; U-Pb; geochronology; zircon; Sweden; Mylonite Zone; Western Segment; Sveconorwegian orogen; Eastern Segment; mineralogy; geochemistry; Petrologi; mineralogi; geokemi;

    Abstract : The Mylonite zone (MZ) is a prominent late-Sveconorwegian lithological terrane boundary in the SW Baltic Shield along which large-scale crustal block movements took place during the Sveconorwegian orogeny. The southern section of the MZ also defines a conspicuous metamorphic break separating upper amphibolite and high-pressure granulite facies rocks in the parautochthonous Eastern Segment (ES), from middle amphibolite facies rocks in the overlying Western Segment (WS). 3. 3. Understanding Zircon Geochronology - Constraints from Imaging and Trace Elements

    Author : Andrius Rimsa; Berggrundsgeologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; hydrothermal; Petrology; mineralogy; hydraulic fracturing; Sveconorwegian; incipient charnockite; EBSD; cathodoluminescence; REE; Zircon; U-Pb geochronology; geochemistry; Petrologi; mineralogi; geokemi; Kerala Khondalite Belt;

    Abstract : Formation of incipient charnockite in Söndrum, SW Sweden and the Kerala Khondalite Belt (KKB), S. India is accompanied by zircon growth. The age of the dehydration event is constrained by dating newly formed zircon to 1397±4 Ma (2?, MSWD=1.7) in Söndrum and ca. READ MORE

  4. 4. Chemical and isotopic records of polycyclic histories in a subducted continental crust (Dora-Maira Massif, Western Alps)

    Author : Francesco Nosenzo; Paola Manzotti; Alasdair Skelton; Charlotte Möller; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Subduction; continental crust; polycyclic; garnet; metamorphic petrology; Geology; geologi;

    Abstract : At convergent plate margin, part of the continental crust can be subducted and exhumed. During continental subduction a pre-existing crust is reworked. Remnants of an older orogen are recycled and subjected to (ultra)-high-pressure metamorphism. READ MORE

  5. 5. The tectonic evolution of the western part of the Svecofennian orogen, central Sweden : Insight from U/Pb and 40Ar/39Ar geochronology at Forsmark

    Author : Tobias Hermansson; Berggrundsgeologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; physical geography; Geology; Svecofennian orogen; Tectonic models; Tectonic cycles; Uplift; Cooling; Ductile deformation; Geochronology; U Pb; 40Ar 39Ar; Geologi; fysisk geografi; Petrology; mineralogy; geochemistry; Petrologi; mineralogi; geokemi;

    Abstract : The Forsmark area, in the western part of the Svecofennian orogen, central Sweden, is situated between two major Palaeoproterozoic tectonic domains that show contrasting histories with respect to timing of igneous activity, ductile deformation and metamorphism. At Forsmark, WNW to NW trending, ductile deformation belts anastomose around tectonic lenses with an inferred lower degree of ductile strain. READ MORE
